The latest of live-action Disney adaptations will focus on a Fantasia segment.

THR is reporting that Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the writers of Dracula: Untold (and co-writers of the upcoming The Last Witch Hunter), are working on a script for a live-action adaptation of “Night On Bald Mountain”, a sequence from the classic 1940 Disney film, Fantasia.

“Night On Bald Mountain” is itself a classic that, while not necessarily scary (to adults, anyway), is visually stunning and darkly atmospheric. It centers on a dark winged creature who raised spirits from the dead. They dance, fly through the air and enjoy an night of mayhem until they fade away as the night ends and the sun begins to rise.

Sources say the adaptation will resemble Maleficent, another recent live-action take on an old Disney story.

You can watch the entire original “Night On Bald Mountain” in the video below.
