So everyone can calm down now.

Screen Shot 2015-09-30 at 11.00.51 AMFor the past month or so, fans in the horror-sphere has been voicing their disappointment, disgust, and general disapproval of the rumors that have been floating around about an upcoming remake of the classic 1973 film The Exorcist.  The rumors originated with reports of the film production company Morgan Creek selling the rights to many titles in their library, including The Exorcist, directed by William Friedkin and starring Linda Blair, Ellen Burstyn, and Jason Miller.

Predictably, the rumored reports concerning a remake, and ultimate ruin, of the national treasure that is The Exorcist, garnered nothing but negative responses across the board.  Friedkin heard the news, and expressed his thoughts on the matter in a tweet:

You can all put down your pitchforks and focus on more important matters, like the recent news that Russia has just launched its first airstrike in Syria.
