Screen Shot 2015-11-25 at 4.43.44 PMWho remembers the show Scare Tactics? It was a hidden-camera prank show similar to Punk’d and Girls Behaving Badly, except instead of the perceived threat of going to jail or having to pay a ridiculous fine, the victims featured on the show were terrified for their lives.  Scare Tactics, which ran from 2003 to 2013, was the ultimate reality-based TV show for horror fans.  Some of the more memorable segments from Scare Tactics included the birth of Satan’s spawn, a UFO encounter, and a couple of vampire bikers.  The show was sadly discontinued, but the clips still get quite a lot of hits on Youtube.

You might be thinking that a show like this would be an excellent premise for a horror film.  Well, you wouldn’t be the only one.  Cameron and Colin Cairnes‘ upcoming film titled Scare Campaign is about a horror prank show gone horribly wrong:

Popular prank TV show, Scare Campaign, has been entertaining audiences for the last 5 years with its mix of old school scares and hidden camera fun. But as we enter a new age of online TV the producers find themselves up against a new hard edged web series which makes their show look decidedly quaint. It’s time to up the ante, but will the team go too far this time, and are they about to prank the wrong guy?

The film stars Meegan Warner, Ian Meadows, Olivia DeJonge, and Patrick Harvey Scare Campaign premieres tomorrow in Australia’s Monster Fest, and may see a DVD and VOD release sometime in 2016.  Until then, here’s the teaser:
