Last week, we spread the news that Fox has officially ordered a pilot for a modernized– and serialized– adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist.  We told you that the pilot is going to be written by Jeremy Slater, and that he will serve as executive producer with Barbara Wall, James Robinson, and David Robinson.

We now have another piece of the puzzle: the director.

As announced by Deadline, Rupert Wyatt, known for 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has been chosen to direct the pilot for The Exorcist.  Wyatt also directed the 2014 thriller The Gambler.

We’re still waiting on a cast list, among other things like a trailer and an air date, but given the choice of director, we’re getting pretty excited.
