Ghosts, Clowns, and (Yes!) Monster Trees.

The pictures alluded to it; The teaser clip teased it; and now the official trailer has confirmed it. Poltergeist looks to be a faithful adaptation of a fantastic and classic horror movie. Whether you find that good or bad is up to you – but despite how much we want to reject rehashes, this trailer makes the movie look pretty awesome.

And my biggest fear has been relinquished in the form of a giant CGI tree sucking up a young boy. That damn tree was always the scariest part of the original Poltergeist (yes, even scarier than the clown) and I was truly worried it would get the ax in favor of something more modern and less “goofy.”

Then again, the Evil Dead remake reminded us that trees can still be scary. Here’s to hoping this new Poltergeist fulfills that trend. Check out the official trailer below.

Poltergeist will star Jared Harris, Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, and Jane Adams. Produced by Sam Raimi, the film is set to release in 3-D on July 24th, 2015.
