The French did it first!

“The Returned” (Les Revenants) is a French supernatural drama television series created by Fabrice Gobert, based on the 2004 French film They Came Back’. Even though there was an undeveloped effort in the past by the Brits (most specifically by Fremantle Media) to make an english version of the show, in April 2014, A&E took the initiative and ordered 10 episodes with Carlton Cuse to write the pilot episode and executive produce the series alongside Raelle Tucker.

Tonight (March 9) at 10pm after “Bates Motel” we will finally enjoy the “new” series in our American screens. The first episode is named “Camille” and is directed by Keith Gordon.

The storyline of the show is very interesting.

A small town is turned upside down when several local people who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. As families are reunited, the lives of those who were left behind are challenged on a physical and emotional level. Interpersonal relationships are examined with intrigue and depth as strange phenomena begin to occur.

Makes me wonder what my reaction would be if a loved one returned from the dead. I find it hard to imagine my reaction that is why I think it will be compelling to see the reactions and thoughts of the characters in the show. I hope it’s gonna be the ‘dessert’ after the flavorful ‘main course’ “Bates Motel” premier of Season 3. Yummy!
