James O’Barr, the creator of The Crow, shared a few new details about the upcoming reboot during a panel at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention this weekend.

According to Barr, the role of Shelly, Eric’s murdered fiancée, will almost certainly be played by Jessica Brown Findlay of Downton Abbey. The contract hasn’t been signed yet, but it seems like a done deal. She was his first choice for the role.

O’Barr also shared some details about the production. It will shoot in Belgium, which is an increasingly popular place to film because of friendly tax laws. Parts of it also apparently stand in well for Detroit. The crow will speak to Eric, just as in the original comic, and there may be some stop motion involved.

I saw 'Mars Attacks!' in theaters when I was five. I still think it's the greatest horror movie for five year olds ever made.
