Let’s hope high school kids never stop awakening spirits

The Gallows is loaded with tropes we’ve seen before, but they do it so well. Produced by Blumhouse and directed by Travis Cluff & Chris Lofing, The Gallows shows us what happens when a group of students decide to recreate a terrible accident. What ensues is lots and lots of high schoolers being haunted by a dead guy. It’s a beautiful thing.

Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.

Think of this trailer the next time you’re surrounded by a bunch of high school kids inside of a Dunkin Donuts, just smile and know one day they’re going to awake a dead spirit and regret cutting you on on line.

The Gallows is out July 10th.
