We’re not making this up, we promise.

In weird news of the day, cable network Destination America has announced plans to air a live exorcism on TV the day before Halloween this year. This is the first time in US television history that a live exorcism will be filmed and aired nationally as it happens.

Starring the cast from Destination America’s Ghost Asylum, as well as Chip Coffey, a world renowned psychic medium, and the Tennessee Wraith Chasers, Exorcism: Live! (no I’m also not joking with that title) will explore the house in St. Louis that inspired the novel and film The Exorcist. The network stated that “no one has ever attempted to rid the lurking spirits and demons that inhabit this home… until now.” The home is in the suburbs of St. Louis and is presently occupied.

The exploration will take place on the 66th anniversary of the original attempt in the house. Marc Etkind, an exec for the network, had this to say:

As we step into one of the most haunted and well-known spirit destinations in America, Exorcism: Live will show exactly what is inside this infamous, highly dangerous and possessed home. By actually exorcising this iconic house live, Destination America will do what it does best — bringing never before seen experiences to television.

The network also has plans to place cameras everywhere in the house for a live, streaming Twitter feed (do demons know how to hashtag?) so all vantage points and activity can be captured. No word on if Linda Blair will make a cameo.

It will air at 9pm on October 30th on Destination America. Will you be tuning in?
