They’re best when they’re fresh.

Almost every culture in the world has some form of The Boogeyman.  The names and descriptions of this monster vary greatly, even differing among people and households in the same community, but the mythology is relatively consistent: The Boogeyman abducts and cannibalizes children who misbehave and/or stay awake past their bedtime.

The short horror film Child Eater is about a babysitter who discovers that a Boogeyman-esque monster is, indeed, in a little boy’s closet.  The events leading up to this discovery, as well as afterwards, are nothing short of terrifying.

Child Eater was written and directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen, and stars Cait Bliss, Cameron Ocasio,  and Dan ReissBoomer Tibbs steals the film as the villain, depicting the most frightening child-eating monster I have seen since Pan’s Labyrinth‘s Pale Man.  Child Eater was screened at fifteen film festivals worldwide, including the Bram Stoker International Film Festival in England. It garnered so much positive attention that a successful crowd-funding campaign was launched to develop this short into a feature film.  The feature is also titled Child Eater, and it is currently in post-production.
