Back in 2015, we gave you the good news that our beloved horror anthology American Horror Story was renewed for a sixth season.  Since then, fans of the show have been speculating about possible themes for next year’s installment.  After the season finale had two references to the Thacher School, the most prominent prediction has been that season six will be take place at a boarding school.  I mean, why not? Boarding schools hold plenty of possibility for scary and disturbing occurrences (as seen in the festival hit February and classic Dario Argento film Suspiria).

The latest in the rumor mill comes from an unnamed US Weekly insider, who claims that season six “will likely focus on Slender Man.”

From US Weekly:

“Someone else wrote the script, and AHS wants to adapt it to fit the show,” says the insider. “They have to buy the rights. Then they’re going to figure out the cast from there.”

The character Slender Man was created as an Internet meme in 2009 by Eric Knudsen, who first posted it to a forum on somethingawful.com.  The accepted mythology is that Slender Man is a tall, thin, and faceless man in a suit who stalks, terrorizes, and occasionally abducts people.  Slender Man is often photoshopped in pictures of children, particularly on playgrounds, and is sometimes depicted with long tendrils.  Since its creation, Slender Man has appeared in countless other forums, particularly those catering to horror fans, and has even inspired fan-made horror shorts and a few computer games.

As far as American Horror Story goes, nothing should be considered valid or official until the creator, Ryan Murphy, gives a statement.  Until then, let’s continue to speculate, predict, and daydream.
