Have you ever had that dream where you’re convicted of a crime you didn’t commit and are sentenced to death? If you have, this upcoming film may be too intense for you.  Chad Ferrin’s The Chair hits theaters this year and has just released its first trailer.  Co-written by Peter Simeti and Erin KohutThe Chair is based upon Simeti’s graphic novel of the same name.  Here’s the story:

The Chair follows the story of Richard Sullivan, an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row. Witnessing the savage killings of his fellow inmates at the hand of the prison’s sadistic and psychotic Warden, Sullivan decides that the only way to survive is to fight back. But as he matches the brutality occurring in the prison, Sullivan is forced to come face to face with his sanity and his own horrifying past.

As if the prison industrial complex wasn’t terrifying enough.  The film adaptation stars Bill Oberst Jr, Timothy Muskatell, Roddy Piper, Noah Hathaway, Zach Galligan, Naomi Grossman, Ezra Buzzington, and Susan Eisenberg.  The trailer is outstanding.  Chaotic, claustrophobic, and gruesome without being gory.  There isn’t a release date yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
