A few months ago, we passed along the announcement that Dark Sky Films had purchased the distribution rights to Michael Thelin’s new horror movie titled Emelie.  Written by Richard Raymond Harry Herbeck, it starts Sarah Bolger, best known for her role as Mary Tudor in Showtime’s The Tudors, as a deranged, and possibly homicidal, babysitter.

Emelie made a splash at films festivals, garnering rave reviews and scaring any parents in the audience out of ever leaving their children with a babysitter again.  The film also stars Carly Adams, Thomas Bair, Chris Beetem, Joshua Rush, and Susan Pourfar.  Here’s what all the fuss is about:

After their regular babysitter Maggie can’t make it, the Thompson family turns to her friend Anna to supervise their children while the parents go out to celebrate their anniversary. At first Anna seems like a dream come true to the kids, allowing them to eat extra cookies and play with things that are usually off-limits, but as her behavior becomes increasingly odd, the kids soon find out that her intentions are dark and twisted, and she is not who she seems to be. (From Bloody Disgusting)

Dark Sky Films has announced an official release date for Emelie.  Better still, it’s going to be available in theaters and on VOD platforms.  You know, just in case you have to hide under some blankets while you watch it.  Emelie comes out on March 4th.  As an added bonus, Dark Sky Films has unleashed a new theatrical trailer.  Check it out below.
